Bottle Return Information

For easy reference we have assembled a list of beer products that have been sold in the province of Manitoba. All beer containers carry a 10¢ refundable deposit with the exception of containers 2L or larger which are 20¢.

In Manitoba, liquor bottles are primarily recycled through a household recycling program. Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries collects an environmental levy at the point of sale on each bottle. This money is given to the Manitoba Product Stewardship Corporation who funds the program and other community recycling programs.

As per Regulation 68(1) of Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Board Regulation 68/2014 to The Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation Act, a retail beer vendor must accept empty beer bottles or beer cans from products purchased in Manitoba on which a refundable deposit has been paid.

To find a Hotel Beer Vendor near you, visit our Manitoba Liquor Retailers page for location and contact information.

If you would like to report an issue with a hotel beer vendor who would not accept your empty beer bottles or cans, please send us a message through our Contact Us page. We will follow up with the hotel beer vendor to ensure The Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation Act and its Regulations are being followed.

*Please note that empty beer bottles and cans are not eligible for return at Manitoba Liquor Marts, Liquor Vendors (rural), or Specialty Wine stores.
