A little spiced rum opens up the nose with gorgeous hints of date and walnut cake, a little honeyed oiliness, a dusting of cocoa and lush crystallized ginger. The mouth feel is delicately vinous, in true Balvenie style, the palate holds winter spice and salty butter pastry with a sweet vanilla and melted cookie dough ice-cream. The finish is tight and swift, the bourbon oak notes fading out with added toasty vanilla.

For The Botanist, small-batch, artisanal Islay gin we use nine of the classic gin aromatics - orris root, cassia bark, coriander seed, etc. - and augment these with a heady harvest of 22 local botanicals, hand-picked by our expert foraging team from the windswept hills, peat bogs and Atlantic shores of this Herbidean island of Islay.

Lovely, delicate, and floral on the nose grains and malts working in perfect harmony. Deceptively rich and full for what is really quite a light-bodied blend. Fruity, with a touch of smoke. Water enlightens the fruity bouquet and brings out vanilla and lighter notes of ripe peaches. Pear and marzipan pie. Luscious barley sugar aromas. This full-bodied whisky is unctuous and mouth coating, almost syrupy. Oak holds the reins back, releasing a drying spiciness of cinnamon, ginger, walnut and dark chocolate. The 1991 showcases a glossy cinnamon colour, with classic aromas of apple, dried fruit and vanilla on the nose, followed by ginger, nutmeg and almonds, with sweet spice and raisin on the palate. Amber, honey colour. On the nose, dried fruit, ginger, toffee, rich orange with hints of clove and nutmeg. On the palate, rich raison with notes of caramel, vanilla and ginger balanced by wood spice and zesty citrus.

Aromas of orange and lemon, honeysuckle, vanilla, coconut and ripe barley fields. Rich oak, lemon, melon, classic scone, almond and green tea on the palate. Long finish.

THE SINGLETON of Dufftown is a satisfyingly refined, beautifully balanced single malt that is naturally rich and smooth. It offers sweetness, crunchy nuts and smooth fruity richness. Smoothness allows full enjoyment of the flavour of the whisky, because no single part of its characters overwhelmed.

Golden in colour, lavish honeyed, aromas of buttery Burgundian Chardonnay, juicy golden apples and pears. On the palate rich sweet hints of ripe rich yellow fruit and smooth toffee center stage. Velvet-smooth and silky.

The expression of this blended malt is built around whisky drawn from sherry and Spanish red wine casks. 48% of the whisky was aged in ex-sherry casks, while a further 25% was aged in ex-Spanish red wine casks. Notes of citrus peel, red wine and spices. A long finish, with hints of vanilla panna cotta, berries and cherries.
