Blackened Whisky started as a collaboration between Master Distiller Dave Pickerell and Metallica, but when Dave passed away in 2018, Master Distiller Rob Dietrich joined the team in 2019 and now oversees the Blackened American Whiskey distilling process. A blend of hand-selected, well-aged North American bourbon & rye whiskeys, uniquely finished in black brandy casks and the earth-shattering music of Metallica. Each batch of whiskey is blasted with it's very own Metallica playlist, curated by the band themselves. Burnt caramel, oak and honey on the nose along with notes of cinnamon, allspice, dark fruit, clove and mint. The finish is long and smooth with a taste profile that is slightly creamy with hints of butterscotch, toffee and maple.

With honey and amber glowing from a tall, slender bottle, this whisky is a delight to the eye. The nose is grainy and light, with a nice blend of fruit and spice balanced by a slight earthiness. On the palate, honey and brown sugar sweetness is prominent, with dark fruits (plums, cherries) underneath. Mouthfeel is very oily, having a viscous feel on the tongue. A hint of vanilla and molasses appears on the finish, which is quick to fade. All in all, this whisky is smooth and well-balanced.

Matured for an initial 9 years in American White Oak ex-Bourbon casks. During the final 3 years the whiskey is transferred to 30 year old Gonzalez Byass Matusalem Oloroso Sherry butts.

Nose: Aromatic, toffee, fruit salad, lush nectarine, custard. Floral, apple blossom, honeysuckle. Apple peels, pear, touch of smoke. Palate: Malty. Walnuts steeped in manuka honey with vanilla sponge. Gentle smoke weaves its way through the cereal with a touch of spice. Finish: Long, malty, walnut, almond.

Gentleman Jack is charcoal mellowed before going into the barrel. It receives an additional “blessing” when it is charcoal mellowed again after reaching maturity, giving it ultimate smoothness. Gentleman Jack is full-bodied with fruit and spices, and its finish is silky, warm, and pleasant.

The taste is balanced between honey, malt and flowery scents. Dates and figs emerge in the background with a hint of wood smoke. The finish is long and enticing with the sweetness of dried fruit and subtle dryness of Oloroso nuttiness.

On the nose, you find gentle spice with ripe banana aromas. Mid palate is smooth with notes of banana, oak, and spice. Finish is medium bodied with great structure and balance.

Knappogue Castle 12 YO is an exceptional single malt made exclusively from malted barley. Triple distilled one batch at a time in traditional, onion-shaped copper pot stills, the whiskey is then aged in bourbon oak casks for twelve years. Aromas of biscuit and peppery spice. This whiskey has been aged in fire-charred, new American white oak barrels. Aromas and flavours of spice, pepper, citrus, butterscotch and oak.

Three Swallow is made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley, then triple distilled in traditional copper pot stills. Matured in mainly 2nd and 3rd fill American oak casks. Pot Still spice combines with crisp barley character. Delicate herbs give way to green banana and grapefruit while a nutty note of marzipan reflects the wood contribution of specially selected casks. An initial taste delivers smooth mouth-coating barley followed by an eruption of green apple and citrus notes. Herbs and spicy flavours are complemented by a touch of cedar wood for extra complexity.

Full of aroma and flavour, Redbreast 12 Year Old benefits from a strong contribution from distillates that have matured in Oloroso sherry casks, giving it its trademark Christmas-cake character.

An ode to the great outdoors, Tincup is a blend of two great American whiskeys, "high rye" bourbon is blended with a small amount of Colorado single malt whiskey and cut with rocky mountain water. Aromas of dry winter spices, toasted brioche, with a flavour that is semi-sweet, dry raisin, apples, and cinnamon with a spicy finish. Enjoy on the rocks or in a cocktail.

Notes of fresh cinnamon, black peppercorn, a hint of tangerine and grapefruit zest on the nose. Powerful mouth feel, with hints of cocoa, cardamon and cured leather, vanilla and baking spices. Long Finish.

Five sources of flavour have been customized for this craft bourbon. The first includes mineral rich iron-free water. The second ingredient is a unique grain recipe including corn, malted barley and rye which gives it its feisty spice character. The third is our unique cypress fermenters, the fourth is we distill in our customized copper pot stills, and lastly we mature in our own white oak barrels.
