DAB invented the special type of bottom-fermentation lager, which became known around the world as "The Dortmunder". It is still brewed according to the original Dortmunder brewing process. DAB offers a fabulous crisp, full-bodied, and mildly-hopped taste of excellence.

This Limited Edition Imperial Black Lager could also be considered a fruited, heavy twist on the German Dunkelweizen, a style that dates back to the 16th century when Bavarian brewers began using darker wheat malts in their beers. A slight hop bitterness balances a vinous complexity otherwise not traditionally found in this style. There is no burnt flavour despite the use of dark malts, and behind the initial sweetness and full, smooth body you will find red wine character, with notes of tart plum, stone fruit, tobacco, vanilla & toffee lingering on a somewhat dry finish.
