Varietal Composition is 58% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Malbec, 7% Petite Verdot, and 6% Zinfandel. The varietal composition for this vintage is 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. It has been aged a total of 24 months in barrel. Enticing aromas of black cherry, red currant and rose petals mingle with sophisticated hints of hazelnut, clove, caramel and fig preserves. A silky palate with juicy layers of plum, tayberry and chocolate-covered blueberries are framed by elegantly structured tannins, with notes of red licorice, mint, maple and sage adding complexity to a long, dynamic finish.

Grapes for this Malbec are grown in the Andes Mountains of Argentina, then chilled and transported by ocean voyage to Caymus, where we use our winemaking techniques to create a style that is dense, dark and supple. Red Schooner does not include a vintage date but is known by the voyage from which it traveled (i.e. Voyage 10 is the 2020 vintage). Inviting aroma of pear, pineapple and orange blossom with a lifted floral note. Medium - bodied, the wine has a soft palate balanced by pleasant acidity and a subtle touch of oak in the finish.

This textural, medium bodied wine leads with bright red fruits (Bing cherry, wild strawberry, red plum, raspberry) and baking spices (clove, nutmeg) aromatics on the nose. The palate is lush and round with vibrant and juicy red fruits, good acidity and silky tannins.

On the palate, intense dark fruit, sweet vanilla combine with a smoky-oak to give a long rich mouth feel that finishes with balanced acidity and moderate, velvety tannins.

Deep flavours of blackberry and tobacco give this wine excellent balance, with oak aging adding a toasty, caramelized quality.
