Blackened Whisky started as a collaboration between Master Distiller Dave Pickerell and Metallica, but when Dave passed away in 2018, Master Distiller Rob Dietrich joined the team in 2019 and now oversees the Blackened American Whiskey distilling process. A blend of hand-selected, well-aged North American bourbon & rye whiskeys, uniquely finished in black brandy casks and the earth-shattering music of Metallica. Each batch of whiskey is blasted with it's very own Metallica playlist, curated by the band themselves. Burnt caramel, oak and honey on the nose along with notes of cinnamon, allspice, dark fruit, clove and mint. With honey and amber glowing from a tall, slender bottle, this whisky is a delight to the eye. The nose is grainy and light, with a nice blend of fruit and spice balanced by a slight earthiness. On the palate, honey and brown sugar sweetness is prominent, with dark fruits (plums, cherries) underneath. Mouthfeel is very oily, having a viscous feel on the tongue. A hint of vanilla and molasses appears on the finish, which is quick to fade. All in all, this whisky is smooth and well-balanced.

Matured for an initial 9 years in American White Oak ex-Bourbon casks. During the final 3 years the whiskey is transferred to 30 year old Gonzalez Byass Matusalem Oloroso Sherry butts.

Forty Creek Confederation Oak is the colour of old gold and is a very full bodied whisky. To the nose it is a big whisky with constantly evolving aromas and flavours. Beginning with a maple-raisin-vanilla-fig, layers of praline, banana, butter cream, honeyed nuts, marzipan, spice and orange blossoms. As it lingers, dark dried fruits and anise evolve. On the palate it has a very rich entry; soft, round and dry. Full bodied with vanilla, butter cream and pepper spice which is nicely framed with oak, walnut and smoke. An exceptional finish that has great depth. A long lingering finish with fading spice and white pepper. Excellent balance and vibrant flavour. A whisky to sip and cherish.

Knappogue Castle 12 YO is an exceptional single malt made exclusively from malted barley. Triple distilled one batch at a time in traditional, onion-shaped copper pot stills, the whiskey is then aged in bourbon oak casks for twelve years. Aromas of biscuit and peppery spice. First produced in Maryland in the 1890s, Pikesville Rye, along with the rest of the once-booming Maryland Rye industry, was shuttered by Prohibition. The brand re-emerged after Prohibition and became the last standing Maryland Rye, as the rest of the industry's production had ceased. The taste is dry and spicy, with honeyed rye and cloves. A soft vanilla and baking spices as the finish.

Three Swallow is made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley, then triple distilled in traditional copper pot stills. Matured in mainly 2nd and 3rd fill American oak casks. Pot Still spice combines with crisp barley character. Delicate herbs give way to green banana and grapefruit while a nutty note of marzipan reflects the wood contribution of specially selected casks. An initial taste delivers smooth mouth-coating barley followed by an eruption of green apple and citrus notes. Herbs and spicy flavours are complemented by a touch of cedar wood for extra complexity.

Full of aroma and flavour, Redbreast 12 Year Old benefits from a strong contribution from distillates that have matured in Oloroso sherry casks, giving it its trademark Christmas-cake character.

With a rye content of 95%, well past the 51% required for the category, we’ve recreated the classic American whiskey that ruled our glasses before Prohibition. Aromas and flavours include citrus, toasted oakn a bit of spice and mint.

Our bourbon has a rye content of 21%, giving it a light but distinct hint of spice. Additional aromas and flavours include: caramel, spice, over-ripe banana and cracked black pepper.
